Why do some people today still believe the earth is flat or only a few thousand years old?

Religion is the man culprit of the thousand year old myth, as the Bible teaches that the Earth was created a millennia before Abraham, which would put it at 4000 BC. Flat Earth has been around for centuries, but people grew out of this belief as more and more facts backed up the round earth hypothesis.
