Ecumene is a term used by the geographers to define the lands which are inhabited by the people.

The inhabited lands are used for residence, agriculture, and other purposes. The ecumene are of different types depending on the structure occupying the land. The types include industrial ecumene, population ecumene, agricultural ecumene, and cultural ecumene.

Good example for ecumene:

Land with all the facilities (New York).

Bad example for ecumene:

Lands with very low temperature (Arctic and Antarctic regions) and lands that are very steep (towers in Gilgit-Baltistan).
