The drawbacks of the technologies used to overcome environmental challenges in Dubai are that these technologies are highly damaging to the environment and require enormous energy inputs. The high use of air conditioning to artificially cool large spaces in Dubai has a negative impact on the environment because of the carbon and greenhouse gas emissions that result because of the large amount of electricity that is needed. Additionally, activities like growing grass or changing the shape of the coast line also require a large amount of energy and have a major carbon footprint and other implications that are yet to be seen in regards to the effect these activities have on the eco system and environment of the area.
