The purpose of this assignment is to make sure that you know where to reference in a text. Remember that every idea that is not your own must be referenced and not just when you quote. Using what you just learned from the video in the module, your task is to place the correct reference in an already written text. That is, I am giving you an excerpt from a former student's term paper (used with their permission). I have removed the actual references from the paper, though I have left where the references should go - it will say (reference) - and what you need to do is to choose the correct reference from the drop down menu. You will have to read and take notes on the relevant articles AND the term paper first. I have placed all of these under the Files tab. I would suggest you read through the articles first and then print out a copy of the "term paper." Then go through the articles again with the term paper in hand and find the appropriate references. The articles for this assignment are under the files tab and called: "Estrada- Primate Extinction." "Borgerson- The Effects of Illegal Hunting" And the "term paper" is called "Fake Student Primate Paper." The extinction of primate species is potentially even more devastating simply because of the scientific and ecological impact these species have on our world. Yet, the possibility of just such an extinction is very real. Primates are vital both for the propagation of the Earth's forests and for allowing us, through studying their behaviors, to gain a greater understanding of our own culture and evolution.
