I need help with this question I don’t understand it well I do I just need help writing it in my own words

Here's the passage in my own words:

"In history, it is sometimes necessary for a group of people to break political ties with another, and to become a separate country that has its sovereignty respected by other countries. Also, other countries should respect and listen to the reasons for this group of people to be independent."
