Baja Peninsula or mostly pronounced as "Ba-ha" is a narrow strip of land which is connected to the Western coast of mainland Mexico. While the Jalisco Block is nearly 500 kilometres away south of the Baja Island .

The Baja island is of much importance to the geologist as the formation of Baja island is much related to the changes that is happening in the Jalisco island as believed by the scientist and geologist.

Baja island is formed by the plate movements. Now similar changes are seen in the Jalisco block. Geologist believed that similar geological changes is happening in the Jalisco Block. There was a divergent movement of the plates in the middle of the North American plate that has lead to the formation of the Baja peninsula. But in Jalisco it is not clear that a rifting or divergent movement of the plate boundary is currently happening or some new plate boundary will be formed in the near future.
