1, Conduct some research about immigration in the United States. As you research, analyze the underlying problems associated with the issue of U. S.-Mexico immigration. In one to two paragraphs, describe what you think is the key factor that influences this issue. Here are some possible search terms to help you in your research:
"pros and cons of immigration"
"U. S. immigration debate"
"impact of immigration in the U. S."
2, Conduct research on the Internet or in a library to examine possible solutions to the immigration issue. List your resources in the space below. Document any references you use. At minimum, include a title and URL for any Internet resource.
3, Choose three possible solutions to the problem. Briefly compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages associated with these solutions. In the tables below, note three advantages and disadvantages for each solution. Be sure to use your research to support your claims.
4, Choose one of the three solutions you considered, and explore that scenario further. Discuss why you selected that specific solution. Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of implementing such a plan. Write two to three paragraphs evaluating the plan’s details and effects. Use your research to support your ideas.
5, Open the blank map file, and look at the maps of Texas and Arizona. Notice that both states have an extensive border with Mexico. Choose one of the state maps, and draw the physical geography features along the border and the surrounding region. Consider local rivers, deserts, and cities.

Include visual representation of any key human geography features, such as political, economic, or demographic areas that are central to the immigration debate. Use icons, symbols, or shaded areas. Be sure to include a legend on the map.

To see a sample map and get some mapping tips, view this mapping guide. The tips included in the mapping guide can be used as a reference but may not apply to all image or word processing programs. Your chosen map can be copied from its current file and pasted into the program you choose to use for completing this task.

Save your map and upload it to dropbox.
6, Now that you have mapped the geographical features of the border, write a short evaluation of how geography might influence the illegal immigration issue concerning the U. S. and Mexico. For instance, consider the effect of large rivers or deserts.
