The warmer and wetter it is, the more organisms thrive, and the colder or hotter and drier it is, the fewer organisms thrive.

The tropical rainforests have high amounts of precipitation and high temperatures all year round, thus they have high biodiversity. The deserts have very high temperatures (some also very low in winter) and lack of precipitation, so there is very little biodiversity.The temperate climates have medium amounts of precipitation and high variation in temperature from one to another season, leading to having moderate biodiversity.The polar climates have very low temperatures and very low precipitation, so they have the least biodiversity.
