Human settlements disrupt the ecosystem and its normal functioning. Pollution has a great impact. People are mindless of the effects their habits, littering, and technology have. This ends up changing the complete ecosystem as well as the near and far environment they live in.

Humans making a settlement at a certain location disrupts the functioning of flora and fauna at that place. There will be considerable losses of plants and animals, especially if settlements continue to grow and become very populated. Water can’t evaporate as quickly, which affects the whole system.

One of the most serious changes settlements have caused to the environment is pollution. With the growth of many settlements and development of technology in them (factories, usage of cars, littering, usage of plastic, fast fashion, etc.) there is big growth of the pollution level. The bigger the settlement is, the more garbage it produces. This garbage often isn’t recycled and stored properly, and the environment ends up being littered and destroyed. With various gases from heating, cars, and factories, the air is polluted. There are many cities around the world (Delhi, Mumbai, Busan, Bangkok, Shanghai, Sarajevo, Belgrade, etc.) that have very bad air quality which is bad for people and the environment alike. Pollution ends up affecting climate changes, and the whole global ecosystem is being destroyed slowly.
