(A) Deflation

Erosion is one of the exogenous forces that have a role in shaping the surface of the Earth. Erosion is a detaching process of particles from solid forms due to the wind, water, or glaciers. The erosion that happened because of the wind called Deflation.

→ The three main stages of erosion are:

1. Detachment

Detachment is the process of interaction between solid objects with erosion factors such as wind, water, sea waves, and ice. The interaction that occurs is the breakdown of solid objects into smaller particles and detached.

2. Transportation

Small particles that are separated from the main solid object will be taken to another place by the movement of the erosion factors, generally from a high place to a lower place.

3. Deposition or Sedimentation

The small particles that are transported will stop at a new place. Furthermore, these particles will settle to a new location and make the new form.

Wind erosion in recent years has turned out to be serious environmental problem and in recent times it has attracted the attention of many environmentalists across the globe. Wind erosion takes place in mostly in flat, bare areas which are very dry or anywhere else where the soil is loose, dry and finely granulated. It is the Wind erosion that damages the land as well as the natural vegetation by removing soil from one place to the other.  

Wind erosion is behind soil loss and deterioration of soil structure and because of that the nutrient and productivity of the soil looses and it leads to the increase in air pollution. One major way to consider the wind erosion is Deflation. Deflation is known as the process by which wind moves the particles which are loose. When there is movement of the wind, it moves the soil as well as dirt particles and its perfect example will be cited as deflation.
