The distance between the Earth and Venus varies by a factor of almost 7 depending on where the planets are in their respective orbits. As you might imagine, when the planets are close to each other (as shown in the figure), Venus appears much larger in the sky than when they are further away. Which phase will appear larger: a gibbous Venus or a crescent Venus? I am confused on this question Question 5 options:
