Why does everyone have 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness on the equinoxes?

Hopefully this helps. Sorry if it's not helpful or is wrong. Because the earth is equal distance from the sun and the earth is tilted on the axis and spinning. Therefore, some people may experience 12 hrs of light and of darkness at different times of the day when the equinoxes occur. If this is confusing, just tell me. I'll try to explain it better.
