The early cities in Mesoamrica were relatively well developed and highly organized, but also, the people had leisure activities as well, and that was with the purpose to relax and enjoy.

One of those leisure activities were the ball games. Unlike today, the balls were not made from nice and soft materials, but were often very hard. The participants had only one small opening which was high, and they had to get the ball through it in order to win. Occasionally they were not able to score even a single time during a game, bu the games were interesting, passionate, so the people enjoyed them. There's also the probability that some of the participants in the ball games were sacrificed to the gods.
