Latitude and Longitude Notes. Tells you how far NORTH or SOUTH of the equator you are. 0o (zero) degrees latitude is called the EQUATOR. Tells you how far EAST or WEST of the prime meridian you are.

Longitude- Lines that run North to south, Measures distances east and west of the prime meridian.

Latitude- Lines that run west to east, measure distances North and South equator.
