B) The European Economic Community

European Economic Community (EEC), association set up (1958) by a bargain marked in 1957 by Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and West Germany (presently Germany); it was referred to casually as the Common Market.

The EEC was the most noteworthy of the three bargain associations that were combined in 1967 to shape the European Community (EC; known since the endorsement [1993] of the Maastricht arrangement as the European Union).
