When reading a map explain where you would find latitude and longitude

When reading a map, the longitude and latitude lines can be seen very easily, and they are also very easy to be distinguished from one another.

The longitude lines are the vertical lines on the maps. They start from the central part of the map, from the vertical line that cuts the map in two, and they go eastward and westwards. These lines go with the name meridians, and the prime meridian is called the Greenwich meridian.

The latitude lines are the horizontal lines on the maps. They start from the central part of the map, from the horizontal line that cuts the map in two, and they go northwards and southwards. These lines go with the name parallels, and the prime parallel is called the Equator.
