The baby will get 23 from chromosomes from his Mother, and the other 23 from its Father. so the baby is literally half of both of its parents. If the chromosomes are XY, then it it a boy. If it is XX it is a girl. The baby will most likely have characteristics that are very dominant in older generations of that family.
