If she has anxiety, the addiction makes her think, that it will be fixed. I suggest going to a therapist, it’s unrelated, but it could help stop smoking. Even if she does stop smoking, and the anxiety is still there, she will continue and restart the smoking all of over again. Yet, this anxiety might just be caused by the addiction, it’s really uncertain.
