Explain how someone can have a sense of belonging while remaining independent.

Okay, this is from my personal experience. Don't quote me on it.

Being independent is doing everything on your own. You don't ask for help ever. This can become solitary and people can loose that sense of belonging because they are never asking for help...sometimes not even talking to someone. They might become withdrawn and closed off from others. But, a way that an independent individual can make them self still feel like they belong is participating in events, chatting with friends, becoming part of a team, volunteering in their community, etc. etc. When they become friends with someone, or a vital person in their community they feel like they are needed and this allows independent people to still have a sense of belonging.
