For five years Bonnie had cared for her terminally ill husband, in addition to working full-time at nights, taking care of their three young children, and attending college part-time. After her husband died, and as a result of failing to resist the stressors in her life, she became extremely ill herself. Bonnie had reached the stage of the General Adaptation Syndrome.
