Define alcoholism and describe two ways in which alcohol contributes to societal problems.

Alcoholism is the addiction to the consumption of alcoholic liquor. One way it could contibute to societal problems is the loss or ignorance of family or friends. Another societal problem could be the decrease in good performance at a job, school, or in the general community.
