Not so long ago there was a king before him, Who had all the world's current riches and items and he had soon died but before dying announced, That his Treasure was up for any pirate brave enough to take it, If they obtained those treasures, They'd become the king of the pirates thus earning the title "The One Piece" Luffy hearing of this and wanting to become king to help "Shanks the Dread One" Wished to obtain this "One Piece" and become king.
