My mom works with children with learning disabilities and the biggest advice that she’d probably give is that patience is key. You can’t give up on them and you gotta try your best to stay positive!

Potencie su autoestima. Use mensajes positivos; crea en sus habilidades y competencias acorde a sus posibilidades; otorgue responsabilidades gradualmente. En la medida que el niño sea estimulado, se sentirá capaz de conseguir las metas propuestas.

Baje las expectativas personales de los adultos y céntrese en el esfuerzo que el niño imprime a cada acción, con independencia de las calificaciones. Todas las personas tendemos a esforzarnos por lograr una meta cuando somos reforzados positivamente.

Ayude a los niños a generar hábitos de estudio. Establezca horarios claros y estables. Recuerde que no debe disminuir la exigencia, sino que adaptarla a las necesidades de cada hijo.

Potencie en el niño distintas habilidades, más allá de lo cognitivo. Pueden ser de carácter deportivo, social o afectivo. Lo importante es comprender que la dificultad para aprender es sólo una parte de su existencia.

Desincentive los comportamientos inadecuados o violentos, evitando imponer el castigo físico como medida disciplinaria, ya que esto potencia la aparición de la conducta que se trata de extinguir.

De instrucciones claras, breves y precisas. Esto ayudará al niño a comprender mejor el mensaje.
