Potentials barriers that can be encountered when making a decision include;

1. Time: To make effective decisions, enough time has to be allocated to it but most decisions have to be reached in a limited time. Time allows decision-makers to make all the research and consultations they have to, so as to arrive at a good decision.  When a decision is reached hurriedly, mistakes can be made.

2. Not Enough Information: To make a good decision, it is important to gather enough information on the subject. Information provides details on past ways such issues were handled. Evaluation of these and other materials would help the decision-maker but non-availability of information would result in poor decisions.

3. Too Busy: Tight schedules limit the freedom that should be attached to decision making. Tight schedules cause multitasking. The process of multitasking would also make some vital points to be neglected.  

4. Fear of the Unknown: Fear of the unknown affects decision making because predictions have to be made. When a decision-maker makes his decisions based on fear of the unknown, it most times leads to mistakes. Objectivity is required to overcome this barrier.  

5. Fear of Failure: Fear of failure can make a person want to please people. It could also limit the reach he would have attained without fear of failure. A positive mindset is required to conquer this barrier.

6. Not Enough Help: Consultations with people who are experienced is needed to arrive at a good decision. Most times though such people may not be readily available. This would result in decisions that are bad due to inexperience.
