1. In the cell, there are free and attached ribosomes. In reference to protein synthesis, what would be the consequences of not having any free ribosomes and all the ribosomes in the
cell were attached?
A Free ribosomes produce enzymes to be used in the cell, which are used to carry out
protein synthesis. If they are not available then the mRNA will travel to the attached
ribosomes for the synthesis of the enzymes needed for protein synthesis.
B. Free ribosomes synthesize proteins to be used in the cell, which are used throughout
the cell. Ribosomes produce enzymes that will conduct the process of protein
synthesis. If all the ribosomes were attached then all protein produced by those
ribosomes would be transported out of the cell. Therefore, the enzymes needed to
carry out protein synthesis will not be available.
C. Free ribosomes synthesize proteins to be transported out of the cell, which are used
throughout the body. These ribosomes produce enzymes that conduct processes
throughout the body and these processes will not occur without the presence of free
ribosomes.
