If carbs, fat, and protein are not used what does the body do with them?

Carbohydrates unused glucose can be converted to glycogen, which is found in the liver and muscles. If more glucose is consumed than can be stored as glycogen, it's converted to fat for long-term storage of energy. Starchy carbohydrates that are high in fibre release glucose into the blood slower than sugary foods and drinks.

High-protein diets may tout weight loss, but this type of weight loss may only be short-term. Excess protein consumed is usually stored as fat, while the surplus of amino acids is excreted. This can lead to weight gain over time, especially if you consume too many calories while trying to increase your protein intake.
