Why are i messages so important in effective communication

Why are they helpful? So you don't have to mail a letter and wait THREE WEEKS FOR YOUR FRIEND TO WRITE BACK. So you don't have to send a whole formal email when you want to invite your bf to an event. You could just text:
Hey wanna come to a party on thurs:)

SO YOU DON"T HAVE TO CALL ON THE PHONE ALL THE TIME THAT IS TOO STRESSFUL. 

As you can see iMessaging is very helpful.
