Contamination is when something unpleasant or harmful ends up in food.  Contamination can happen in one of three ways:

Physical contaminations are any physical objects in food that are not meant to be in the food. It can include hair, glass, and insects. For example, some physical contaminants such as hair are not considered food safety concerns. While others as glass are considered food safety concerns. Chemical contaminations are any chemicals in food that are not meant to be in the food product. It can be including antibiotics, pesticides, and cleaning agents.
