What is the effectiveness and ineffectiveness of local sports associations and parent teacher associations?

These are effective in encouraging physical exercise in children, in countries with rising rates of obesity, this is key to raising the quality of life, increasing confidence, social interaction, if a child's health is improved then they will have a better quality of life. Sometimes they can be ineffective in engaging all children with social activity and can actually increase social anxiety and stress if not engaged properly.

Parent-Teacher Associations
PTA's provide open structure, opening up the dialogue between parents of bridging the communication between a child's school environment and the home, this allows for parents to monitor and steer both social and academic success within the school ethos. They can, however, be ineffective, as these are not led by any trained professionals, they are orientated to parents, as clients, and therefore much of the activity can be unmoderated and geared less effectively to the children, as communication is not always effective.
