It allows for the provider to asses basically a particle analysis in the urine. It can check for electrolytes, RBC/WBC, medications/drugs, and more. These diagnostics allow for the diagnosis of various issues/conditions depending on what there are trace to abundant amounts of. Direct examples of conditions that can be identified with urinalysis are diabetes, UTIs, diabetes insipidus, diabetic ketoacidosis, or even nephron/renal dysfunction (or failure based on the amount of erythrocytes in the urine).
