Logan is seeing a patient who has just been diagnosed with kidney failure. He recommends that the patient receive dialysis to filter their blood since their kidneys are no longer able to do this successfully. Logan has two options for treating the patient. One is to have them come into the kidney center three days a week for the procedure. The other is to set them up to do the procedure themselves at home. Since Logan wants to be patient-centered, what would be the BEST thing for Logan to do? Ask the patient if they have a preference as to where they receive treatment.

Tell the patient that he is ordering dialysis in the center on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Set the patient up to perform the dialysis at home as it is not that difficult.

Call the patient’s insurance company to see what they will pay for.
