Why does my body feel sore after being sick?

The illness may not be completely gone yet or your body is still recovering. When we are ill, our immune system produces antibodies to fight the illness. These antibodies release a histamine which dilates the blood vessels near the infection so to fight it. As these histamines are released they can end up in the muscles and other body parts which can trigger pain receptors and make us feel sore.
