Why is safety such as wrist, elbow, and shoulder guards necessary in sports

Those bones are and the skin are really easy to get damaged. You can break your wrist pretty easy. It's thinner, and less sturdy than less say your leg. Your knee can also get scraped up pretty bad. Those parts aren't as sturdy, and need more protection.
