The cold war was called cold because it never heated up with the U.S.A and USSR what caused it was that the u.s never recognized the Bolsheviks  as the rulers. and it impacted american life by making the us more paranoid by spy's and communists

So let's start with What was the Cold War. The Cold War was the name for the relationship that developed primarily between the USA and the USSR after World War Two. The Cold War was to dominate international affairs for decades and many major crises occurred.

What started it all? The United States wanted to encourage free trade throughout the world. The Soviet Union wanted to shield off her own sphere from international commerce.
