Which explains why only one set of dna combines with an ovum when there are millions of sperm ejaculated? multiple sets of dna enter the ovum. the ovum dissolves so only one set of dna is present. only one sperm cell makes it to the ovum. the ovum only accepts one sperm cell and blocks the rest.
