Explain how ancient greek drama is different from our contemporary experience at the movies or at the theater

Ancient Greek drama was normally tragedy plays, done at religious festivals. Movies and the theater are watched inside, on a large screen. We watch comedy, romance, tragedy, horror, and more. The ancient Greeks tragedy plays did inspire comedy. Their plays were considered to be forms of art or the worship of the god Dionysos. Greek actors wore masks, and the characters were always portrayed by men. (The presence of any women was contested). Unlike today, violence was also not permitted on stage. You would often hear the death of a character from off stage. There were also often a limit to how many (speaking) actors were allowed onstage. At the movie theaters or on our screen at home, we can often see up to hundreds of actors on screen speaking, such as in the movie "Divergent" during the Choosing Ceremony, or in "I Am Legend", when they are trying to evacuate Manhattan.
