Established missions around the world and spread

The question is incomplete and refers to two questions.
1. Who established missions around the world?

The answer here would be the Catholic Church and this refers especially to the great Age of Discovery when the world was being charted. New continents were discovered and along with them new peoples. It is at these new places that the Catholic Church that established its missions and sent missionaries. 

2. What did the missions help spread?

The correct answer is of course Christianity.
 The missions that were established by the Catholic Church had one goal ,and that goal was the spread of Christianity on the new land and among the newly discovered peoples. Missionaries were sent and shared power with the military leaders. They worked on converting the native populations to the faith of the Catholic Church.

The answer is athens and sparta.
