Yes, the slave trade had a huge impact on the Indigenous people living at the Cape.

Khoi- Khoi was the Indigenous community with whom the Dutch first came into contact at the Cape. They were an unwilling labor force. This was a pastoral community and Dutch found it difficult to use their services as long as they had their own lands, herds of cattle and sheep. The Dutch settlers started practicing “settled Agriculture”. Which affected the Pastoral economy of the Khoi- Khoi's and led to their regular and seasonal migration. The community came under unbearable pressure as the Dutch settlement expanded in the Cape. Therefore this settlement resulted in a form that Individual Khoi- Khoi men and women became incorporated into this society as low-status servants.
