What advantage did western countries have that them colonize other parts of the world

First they had a lot of economic advantages because they opened new commercials route and took the monopolies in the market against the east people like Chinese.
Second they were supported by church who gave money to because they see the possibilitie of new Christians.
Third they had free workers in the colonies
