Shirley Anita St. Hill Chisholm was the first black woman elected to Congress in 1968, and in 1972, he tried to be the Democratic nominee for the presidency. She was a supporter of human and women rights. On August 10, 1970, she delivered the speech named “For the Equal Rights Amendment” in the House of Representatives. In the speech, she refers about the wrong expectation of the society of that time that women couldn’t do what men could.
