1. look back at the chart you created to compare and contrast the ideas of adam smith, robert owen, and karl marx. then consider what you have learned about life in the late nineteenth century. imagine that you are reading the works of smith, owen, and marx in 1900. whose ideas do you think offer the most hope for improving the industrialized world as you see it in 1900? why?

       The first thing we need to pay attention to before answering this is to the dates when these ideas were presented to the world, and their differences between each other.

        Adam Smith, the one that delivered to the world the basics of liberalism and how to have economic growth without major help of the public state, this idea was presented in the middle of the industrial revolution and it's  used almost in the same way for some countries nowadays, in this way, the state doesn't deal that much with economy, the market itself will do that due to its gains and losses during the process.

         I can say that Smith's work offers the most hope for improving the industrialized work because of the fast pace that the market has, and at that time, industries were just starting, so the resources for that were a lot more easier to have and use it in a way that the prodution grows, and without the control of the state, not having to deal with many taxes and lowering the prices.

the berlin blockade was an international crisis that arose from an attempt by the soviet union, in 1948–49, to force the western allied powers (the united states, the united kingdom, and france) to abandon their post-world war ii jurisdictions in west berlin. in march 1948 the allied powers decided to unite their different occupation zones of germany into a single economic unit. in protest, the soviet representative withdrew from the allied control council. coincident with the introduction of a new deutsche mark in west berlin (as throughout west germany), which the soviets regarded as a violation of agreements with the allies, the soviet occupation forces in eastern germany began a blockade of all rail, road, and water communications between berlin and the west. on june 24 the soviets announced that the four-power administration of berlin had ceased and that the allies no longer had any rights there.

in his book, the riddle of the rosetta stone, james giblin talks about how there was a young british polymath and physician named thomas young who made a lot of advances on the deciphering of the rosetta stone. he says that even though young made a lot of mistakes because he was working under false assumptions, he also made huge contributions like deciphering three out of the seven symbols (more than anyone else before him). young published his findings and continued his good work but he wasn't able to progress much further due to some unfavorable situations, he still laid the basis for many other scholars and of course for the man who has been generally known to have deciphered it, jean-françois champollion
