The discovery of gold mines in far west ecouraged people to go there and bet on becoming rich finding gold.The land: The huge amount of land was a great motivation to farmers who saw in the great plains chances to increase their crops; they also saw the opportinity to get property of land extensions and then sell them to the highest biddeer.
