What was the subject of the most debate between large and small states at the constitutional convention?

The states were debating representation. The large states wanted representation by population because it would give them more power. The small states wanted EQUAL representation because they would have been almost shut out otherwise. There was a compromise between them, the Senate would have equal representation for all states while the House of Representatives would go based on population.
