There are many things that they have in common. First of all, they are relatively close. Also, they are in contact with the Pacific Ocean, and also with either the Caribbean Sea or the Gulf of Mexico, which make them ideal for building canals for shipping routes. Also, they have been historically related because, even though Mexico isn´t part of Central America, the state of Chiapas used to be part of the Captaincy General of Guatemala, which also incluedd Costa Rica.
