The main difference between absolute monarchy and constitutional monarchy is that in the absolute monarchy, the monarch holds the absolute powers, and in the constitutional monarchy, the head of state is a hereditary or elected monarch. Absolute monarchy is also called undemocratic monarchy because monarch has total power, whereas constitutional monarchy is called a liberal monarchy because the king or queen has limited powers since they rule along side with a parliament or another governing body.
