What was the cold war? (3-5 sentences)

The Cold War was waged on political, economic, and propaganda fronts and had only limited recourse to weapons. The Cold War was a state of geopolitical tension after World War II between powers in the Eastern Bloc (the Soviet Union and its satellite states) and powers in the Western Bloc (the United States, its NATO allies and others). The Cold War was caused when the Allied forces broke up. The Communists and Capitalists disputed over land and power. It describes different versions of what signified the end of the Cold War, which include the demolition of the Berlin Wall in November 1989, Mikhail Gorbachev's declaration that the Soviet Union would no longer use its military to subdue the satellite states of the Warsaw Pact in 1988, and more.
