President Eisenhower issued proclamation 3204, demanding anyone involved with the obstruction of justice to disperse. When his order was not followed, Eisenhower federalized the entire Arkansas National Guard the following day and unit members began assembling at home stations throughout the night. By order of the president, the National Guard was directed to support the integration of Central High School rather than block it as they had been ordered to do by the Governor of Arkansas.
