The Americans represented that they would not tolerate the taxes. They wrote out a list of grievances(complaints) and that is what led them to revolt against the British. They began to boycott the British goods and spread anti-British propaganda. They were fed up. This eventually led to war between the American colonists and the British so that they would be freed of British rule. However, not all Americans were willing to rebel against the British and those people were a group called the "Loyalist" (you can see why that was the name for them) But when Thomas Paine spread his propaganda in titled "Common Sense" that made more Americans want to fight back against the British.
