Initially, the Mughal and Ming empires were not concerned with having the Europeans for many reasons. Initially, the Ming Empire military fleet largely eclipsed the sizes of European ships leading the Mings, and the Mughals, to believe that the Europeans had nothing of substance that they wanted. At this time in history, the British were not a domineering force. Also both the Ming and Mughal empires wanted to keep their cultures and way of life pure and did not trust European intentions.

Later, the Europeans would do just as both empires feared by diluting their cultures and ways of life with European ideals, using wealth from the Mughals and Ming to become wealthy and powerful, and slaughtering many of their people.
