Describe what effect did the cotton gin have on the south economy

It is very simple, really.  When the cotton gin was created, the Southern planters were able to plant more crops because it took less time to seperate the seeds from the plant.  Unfortunatly, this led to an increase in the buying of slaves to farm the land.  Plz mark brainliest.
